History Park: This park is one of the main strongholds of Valdivian forest within the city. It was acquired by the family in 1852 Harnecker who supplemented the native forest with exotic species to transform it into a large park with botanical garden and a small zoo.
In 1937 the park was acquired by the Municipality of Valdivia for the purpose of creating a recreational center, a project that was completed in 1982.
Features: From Harnecker park has an area of 4.5 hectares, largely covered by a forest of high ecological value, which maintains a structure and very close to the original situation prior to the founding of the city composition. With large specimens sometimes exceeding 20 meters, this forest is dominated by oaks and coigües, whose tops emerge on other evergreen species that tolerate shade, as olivillo, laurel and lingue.
The departments of Environment and Parks Management, the municipality of Valdivia have installed a "Green Classroom" where we can find trees identified with its own sign, in which the common name and scientific name of each species specified . So visitors can recognize a wide variety of trees that represent the majority of native species in our city highlighting addition to the above, radal, Pelu notro, hazelnut, cinnamon, mañio, luma, Meli, myrtle, and tepa ulmo between many others, being a very interesting space for environmental education. The park is home to large flocks of pigeons araucanas, thrushes, and choroyes cachañas, along with a wide range of small native birds.
Infrastructure: The park has trails to traverse, playgrounds, picnic areas, sports fields and green classroom aforementioned.

High season: 8:00 to 21:00 hrs. From Mondays to Sundays
Season: 8:00 to 18:00 hrs. Tuesday to Sunday.
