Municipal Cultural Corporation (MCC)
The Cultural Corporation of the Illustrious Municipality of Valdivia was created by Supreme Decree No. 1472 of November 7, 1994 by the Ministry of Justice. It was founded as a private, nonprofit corporation integrated by the Municipality of Valdivia and the Cultural Corporation of Valdivia, whose purpose would be to enhance the cultural activity of the commune.
Objective
Provide optimal conditions for the development of the artistic creation, both in terms of career exponents and new talents, facilitating their access to the cultural market and to a greater social recognition.
Purposes
- Develop instruments for the promotion of the arts
- Democratize access to art and culture through cultural activities.
- Facilitate use of MCC's infrastructure to the different local artists.
- Develop a program considering a variety of activities throughout the year, including artists with different experiences and backgrounds.
Activities
Make available to artists the competitive fund CONARTE, financing projects of artistic creation in various disciplines.
Facilitate showroom broadcasting spaces throughout the exhibition and concert seasons.
Maintain spaces of encounter and exchange between creators, through events such as the National Painting Competition "Valdivia and its River" and the "International Sculpture Symposium of Valdivia".
Promote "Fernando Santiván Literary Contest" aimed at local and foreign resident authors.
Support and strengthen the teaching of dance and choreographic creation as a means of formation through the "Dance School Valdivia".
