Heritage Interpretation Center "Of all Waters of the World"

The Center for Heritage Interpretation "Of all Waters of the World" stands on the banks of the Valdivia River and on the grounds of the old Customs Center for Heritage InterpretationOffice of the city of Valdivia reconstructing the history of the occupation of the city, evidencing the role of the river as a way of contact and exchange. The museum shows the archeological collection of the site found at the Comptroller General of Valdivia dating back to prehispanic times.

The museum is a sample of the city before the fire of 1909. The archaeological remains displayed in the museum were discovered while the headquarters of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic was being built. This enclosure was called Heritage Interpretation Center "Of All Waters of the World".Room 5

Rescuing and preserving the archaeological remains that represent the history of the city of Valdivia, before the great fire of 1909, is one of the goals that took shape after the signing of an agreement between the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic and the National Direction of Libraries, Archives and Museums (Dibam). The agreement allows the administration of the Heritage Interpretation Center "Of All Waters of the World", which is located on one side of the Comptroller General and Valdivia River.

The property, which contains archaeological elements recovered from the excavations performed by workers during the construction of the building of audit institution, has numerous fragments of monochrome ceramic objects from local potters, remains of buildings of the time and objects that tell of the importance of the waterways in the river trade of the region.

The Director of the Castle Museum of Niebla and who represented Dibam at the ceremony, Ricardo Mendoza, said that "what here is found are the remains of a city before it was rebuilt following the devastating fire of Valdivia in 1909. Between 1880 and 1930, it can be said that the locality saw a golden era of development, carried out by the activity of the German settlers," he said.

The enclosure, located on the side of the Comptroller General, is open to the public and thus becomes an additional tourist element at the end of the river walk of Valdivia, where are also located the submarine O'Brien, the Floating Town and river taxis.
