Costanera Avenue and River Market
Costanera Ave. is a modern urban work that runs along Calle Calle river up to San Carlos street. It is an extensive pedestrian and vehicular promenade that characterizes the city of Valdivia, besides being an exclusive residential area of the city surrounded by extensive and well cared gardens overlooking the waters of the poetic moon walk. It stands out for providing tourists and local inhabitants a meeting point for family outings, and also a place to practice water sports, enjoy river cruises, appreciating the natural environment and scenery of different sport activities given its calm waters. In addition, these waters lead to Corral Bay, located in the mouth of the Valdivia river, which is 17 kilometers (11 miles) away from the Schuster dock.
River Market and Schuster Dock are located in the southwestern part of Costanera Avenue, where coastal fishermen and vegetable growers offer their products either from the sea such as different types of seafood, or agricultural products like fruits, vegetables and flowers. You can also find delicious home-made jams from local fruits. The Schuster dock is located next to the River Market, where you can see all the tourist river ships and those regularly going to Corral Bay. The departure of regular and tourist boats is at 13:00 h from December 15 to March 15, the rest of the year only on Sundays and holidays.
