Description: San Jose de la Mariquina is the capital of the Municipality of Marikina, is located 47 km. north of Valdivia, in the northeast end of the Rivers Region. It is the heart of the new engine forest region, with nearly 33 thousand hectares in operation and one of the largest and most modern pulp mills worldwide.
It was founded on December 7, 1850 by President Manuel Bulnes. Its main attractions are the Plaza de Armas and Santa Elisa Sanatorium, where, with a reservation, you can enjoy a relaxing day on the premises.
San Jose - Mehuin is located 27 km. It is a picturesque fishing village and resort; University famous are its beaches, and Cheuque Pichicuyin where this area has good facilities (hotels, cottages, camping).
San Jose - San Luis de Alba Castillo de Cruces: is located 22 km. (Gravel) of San Jose, along the Cruces River, which serves as the entrance to the Sanctuary of Nature. This castle was built in 1649 and finished as Fort and Castle in 1774.
