The Legacy of Hiroshima Verde is a group of trees surviving the explosion of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, whose seeds are being distributed around the world by Ant-Hiroshima and UNITAR (together form GLH), to deliver through them a message of peace for humanity. Chile was one of the first countries selected to be part of this project, falling in the Botanical Garden of the Universidad Austral de Chile responsibility to germinate the seeds carefully and keep your trees germinate there.

These trees are themselves a message of peace to the world, witnessed the horror of war and human suffering, the strength to represent the people of Hiroshima had to get up, overcome pain and survive against the immensity of the disaster. It is expected that by the Green Legacy of Hiroshima, we educate future generations, raise awareness about the use of nuclear weapons and prevent another disaster like Hiroshima is repeated somewhere in the world.

There have been seeds of the species Ginkgo biloba, Cinnamomum camphora and Ilex rotunda, which represent "The Green Legacy of Hiroshima" in Chile. These seeds have been germinated and gave rise to small trees, those being cared for until they reach a suitable size for transplantation Botanic Gardens.
